award of $2000.00 is presented to Macy Kellstrom, former Oscoda High School
student who attends Northwood Institute studying Engineering as the 2024
recipient. Chapter Education Development Chairperson, Belle Flora, presented
the honors at the Chapters annual Awards picnic in July.
Northeast Sunrise Charter Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association offers a Scholarship worth $2,000.00
Oscoda – For over 20 years, the Northeast Sunrise Charter Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association (ABWA) offers a scholarship worth $2,000 funded through the Stephen Bufton Memorial Educational Fund to a deserving area female student with a GPA of 3.5 or higher, who will be attending an accredited U.S. university or community college. Applicants must be citizens of the United States; residents of AuSable, East Tawas, Glennie, Greenbush, Hale, Harrisville, Lincoln, National City, Oscoda, or Tawas City in Michigan entering a qualifying higher education institution in August/September of 2024

Application period begins January 2025 and must be completed by March 31, 2025. The scholarship recipient will be notified in May or early June 2025.
SBMEF, ABWA’s national educational fund, is one of the most highly respected grant and scholarship funds in the country. For over 75 years, ABWA has helped women achieve their business and professional success through educational scholarships. Since its inception, more than 16,000 women nationwide have been awarded more than 18 million dollars in scholarships.
The Stephen Bufton Memorial Educational Fund is a 501 (c) 3 charitable trust and public foundation. It has the same tax status as public schools, churches and community funds. The fund is listed in the U.S. Internal Revenue Service “Cumulative List of Organizations” described in Section 170(c) of the IRS code of 1954 – revised Oct. 31, 1974.

2025 Chapter Education Expense Award
Each year Students, who complete the national organizations scholarship process but was not selected as the SBMEF or Impact award designate receives a substance from the yearly accumulated chapter funds. This is a voluntarily created award by the chapter based on fund availability and the number of students completing the national scholarship process. In 2024, four students received the Chapters Education Expense award to help with education expenses. Each student spoke about their education goals as their proud families and chapter members looked on.
